About Me

Hi. So you want to know something about me and why I have set up this website. The short answer is that crochet, knitting, rug making, tapestry, simple weaving – these have all grabbed my interest at some time. I began collecting information together for this website to share my passion.

My hope is that visitors coming to the site will share their knowledge and experience with the rest of us by submitting posts.

Since I was a young girl I have always been caught up in the making of things. Early on I found modelling with papier mache very rewarding – but messy. I dressed dolls in period costumes which I made from offcuts that my mother gave me.

When my daughters were young I took to dress making in order to have clothes for them which were individual to us. I also knitted for them.

By the time I went back to work I was involved in producing items for charity, such as tee shirts and vests for children overseas and tiny hats with flaps for premature babies – and, of course, the inevitable blanket squares. Plus such thingse as mittens and hats and novelties such as finger puppets for sale at bazaars.

I tend to work in crochet more now. This is probably because I have found that the work can be picked up and put down without having to finish a row.

As for my working life, I am a teacher (secondary school, adult literacy, armed forces), coach and lecturer in business studies(up to MBA)
